Rogers Services To Install Electric Vehicle Charging Stations In Raleigh

ATLANTA (November 23, 2010)Rogers Services, one of the country’s leading electrical service providers, today announced the award of a contract with Eaton Corporation to install electric vehicle (EV) charging  stations in North Carolina. Rogers Services has already installed three charging stations in downtown Raleigh, N.C. with plans to install additional chargers. In Raleigh, Rogers Services will be a part of North Carolina’s strategy to bring charging stations throughout the state.

“This project continues to strengthen our position as a nationwide leader in the electric vehicle charging solutions industry,” said Chris Rogers, president and chief executive officer of Rogers Services. “As consumers, businesses and the public sector switch from gas to electric cars, we will help make sure they are ready.”  Rogers Services and Eaton have also collaborated with Mitsubishi on various EV charging initiatives nationwide.

Raleigh’s initial three stations were donated by Eaton Corporation, a leading global power management company, with Rogers Services handling the installations. This project aligns well with Raleigh hosting the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Plug-In 2011 conference on electric vehicles this July—an international conference that, for the first time ever, is being held outside California.

“This important collaboration will promote sustainability by creating the infrastructure that will help drivers become more confident that they can easily charge their electric vehicles,” said John Wirtz, business unit manager, Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, Eaton’s Electrical Sector. “Eaton’s proven technology is helping to advance the aggressive early adoption of clean transportation in Raleigh and throughout the Carolinas. The region is helping to pave the way for broader adoption of electric vehicles throughout North America.”
