The 2025 Summer Internship Experience
This summer, we had 11 interns join the Rogers Electric team for 11 weeks packed with learning, growth and hands-on experience. On day one, our interns met our executive team and learned the ins and outs of the electrical contracting industry. They have had the opportunity to work across our Construction, Project Management, Lighting Operations, IT, Accounting, Marketing, and Human Resources teams.
Each intern contributes meaningful tasks in their departments. They have assisted in the planning for our benefits days, operations, audited employee documents, conducted sales presentations, supported job-site coordination, videography, written blogs (Hi! Marketing Intern here!), redesigned our internal website and more. Throughout the summer, our interns also got a taste of the national scale of our work. Visiting job sites, participating in safety training, and attending sales events across the country gave them a chance to see the national footprint of Rogers Electric.
Safety Training
During their first week, our interns participated in our safety training program. This daylong event is required for all our workers in the field and is a part of our onboarding process.
The interns were able to meet new commercial electricians joining our team. Interns were able learn more about what it is like in the field. They even had the opportunity to ride in a boom lift with them and learn how to operate heavy machinery safely. Although, not all our interns spent time in the field this summer, we believe it is important for our team members to understand all aspects of the business, and safety always comes first.
Our Safety Team covered a wide range of topics, including the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE). The interns got to explore Rogers Electric’s approach to risk management and the commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Camp Rogers
Next, we hosted our annual intern team building event, Camp Rogers. Camp Rogers is filled with activities ranging from an obstacle course to water musical chairs and tug-of-war. Our executive team partnered with the interns to form two teams, a little office friendly competition for the day.
Camp Rogers concluded with a lunch Q&A, where the interns were able to ask questions to our executives about where the electrical industry is heading and how they see Rogers Electric growing in the next few years. It was an insightful day, and interns were able to hear about their career journeys, some of which started as interns at Rogers Electric.

The Final Project
Finally, the summer concluded with a final group presentation that had been assigned at the start of summer. The interns were tasked with conducting research on how different departments within the company could leverage artificial intelligence to improve overall efficiency and performance.
This project allowed interns to collaborate with everyone in the office and apply what they learned in their own departments to explore solutions to real-world business challenges. They interviewed team members in various departments to gain insight on their views on AI and how Rogers Electric can utilize it to grow further in the electric industry.
Internships into Impact
When asked about their experiences, our interns shared their thoughts:
“I have had a great experience interning in HR this summer! It has been super interesting to learn the ins and outs of what everyone in the department does, as each position is so different. My favorite projects I have gotten to work on have been getting to complete HR auditing and data migration into our new safety system. I am sad the summer is coming to an end, but thankful for the time that I have had here!”
— Kady Herold, HR Intern
“Working alongside Phillip Wathen and Matthew Peeples in Chicago for a week was really cool. We got to experience a large rollout project for Starbuck’s menu boards firsthand. It was neat to see the start of something big!”
— Jake Krak, Project Management Intern
“My favorite part of being an Accounting Intern this summer has been the opportunity to grow my accounting skills by applying what I’ve learned in the classroom to real-world situations. I’ve been given projects in the accounting department that have challenged me and expanded my skill sets.
I know this experience will benefit me in whatever path I choose to pursue in the future. Also, I’ve truly appreciated the connections I’ve made here at Rogers. Everyone in the office has been incredibly friendly and welcoming, making this a genuinely enjoyable and enriching experience.”
— Alyseka Bishop, Accounting Intern
